| Forest Mushroom Workshop - October 14, 2005 |
|
On October 14, 2005, twenty-five community members gathered at the Iris Griffith Interpretive Centre to enjoy a wonderful workshop about forest mushrooms. The workshop was led by Lagoon Society Director Dr. John Field - a local naturalist and guide and Science Instructor at Capilano College. Participants learned about spore prints, forest mushrooms and mushroom habitats. They walked through the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve where they were able to see many common species, including an enormous cauliflower mushroom, witches butter and red juicy capped mushrooms. The forest mushroom workshop is just one of many educational programs offered at the Iris Griffith Centre. For information about upcoming workshops and events, please consult our Events Calendar page.
